These days many businesses are trying to provide bonuses or incentives for
loyalty. Some automobile manufactures are giving cash discounts to their loyal
customers hoping to keep them in a particular make of car. Many telephone and
credit card companies are awarding special discounts or air fare miles for
customers who remain faithful despite enticing offers from other service
providers trying to lure them away with tempting incentives to switch.
Sociologists suggest that as people in our culture become more self-absorbed
loyalty disappears. People are only loyal when there is some direct benefit
they receive. Despite the evaporation of loyalty, one group in our culture has
largely continued to demonstrate loyalty are moms. Most mothers remain fiercely
loyal to their children and families despite the trends and provide a wonderful
example of God’s love. No matter how many mistakes we make, most of our moms
remain by our side, encouraging us to do better and showering us with love and
affection. They show us love and faithfulness whether we deserve it or
not. God calls each of us to demonstrate such loyalty both to Jesus and to one
another. God promises to reward such loyalty with wonderful blessings.
There are many lessons to be learned from godly mothers that will take a
lifetime to uncover. To all our Mom's, Happy Mothers Day this Sunday.
