There are many exciting opportunities
for the GIRLS of the PA/DE Region in 2008.


AB GIRLS 2ND Annual Scholarship

Applications for the AB GIRLS 2ND Annual Scholarship are now available. This year, a $500 scholarship will be awarded to 2 graduating, active AB GIRLS in our Region who are enrolled in college, trade school, etc. More information is listed on the application. These 2 scholarships will be awarded at the AB Women's Conference - this year at Bucknell University, June 27-29, 2008 Deadline for all applications is April 30, 2008. AB GIRLS Cabinet Applications

AB GIRLS Cabinet Applications for 2008-09 will begin to be accepted May 2008. Please encourage any AB GIRL in your Church or Association that have leadership skills to apply. This year, we will be accepting application for the following positions, Vice President (2 year term with the 2nd year being President), Secretary and Treasurer. Women's Conference 2008.
"Come to the Edge...TRUST"

AB GIRLS or any girl in your church are invited to join us at conference. "Come to the Edge...TRUST" will be the theme of the weekend. The girls will participate in 3 workshops this year. A fun workshop that may be a "little messy" will be held Friday afternoon. Saturday, the girls can choose a craft to participate in. Then, all the girls will participate and learn about "Clowning" - led by Myra Goss. This year, the AB GIRLS 2007-08 Cabinet will be leading the Devotion time for the Girls. Swimming, snacks, special activities are also planned. Cost for the Girls will be $100. AB GIRLS Conference flyers are found on the website to download. Houseparty 2008

HOUSEPARTY 2008. "HE Lifts Me Up." Come and be lifted up through the many activities the weekend includes. August 8-10, 2008 at Greenfield Baptist Church, North East, PA. The Girls of Greenfield have been busy planning an exciting and fun weekend for the girls. Remember, this is a weekend for GIRLS planned by GIRLS!!!
  • Come and learn the dance moves for "Get Down" by Audio Adrenaline.
  • Friday "Talent Time for God" will take place.
  • Saturday Bible Studies for all ages, including adults.
  • Workshops will include the following: Signing to Song,Carpentry/Woodworking, Puppet Ministry, Garden Club Craft, Worship, Card Making, Makeup Application, Fly fishing. Egg Painting, Rock Painting, Hair Styles, and Tie-dying shirts. There are still a couple more workshops that are awaiting confirmation.
  • Saturday afternoon activities will include a choice of one of the three activities - Shopping at the MillCreek Mall, Visiting the Erie Zoo, or Swimming at Peak and Peak Resort.
  • Also included in the weekend is Saturday evening formal banquet and awards, officer installation, and concert.
  • Sunday worship that will include the "talents" of the girls and led by the Pastors of Greenfield will conclude the weekend.

Cost remains at $35. Registrations will be mailed at the end of May as well as being available at Conference. The National Gathering of American Baptist Youth
July 5-11, 2008
Estes Park, Colorado

Every four years, youth from across the country and around the world come together for the experience of a lifetime. They will come to the mountain to worship and discern God's will for their lives. More than a Week is for youth ages 15 (or having completed 9th grade) through 20.

AB GIRLS Materials

G.I.R.L.S. Leadership 101 CD
G.I.R.L.S. Leadership 101: Leadership Training for Ministry with Girls will help leaders of girls' ministries learn how girls develop through childhood and teenage years. Leaders will learn how to meaningfully interact with girls, and how family and community can be components of the girls' ministry.

"Leadership 101" is the first CD available in the G.I.R.L.S. resource series. The G.I.R.L.S. curriculum will help girls develop in their relationship with God through Jesus Christ, grow in their relationships with authentic, caring adults and with one another. G.I.R.L.S. Vol. 1 "Wholeness"
G.I.R.L.S. Volume 1 "Wholeness" will help girls explore important issues of body, mind and spirit. They will learn about healthy living, explore methods for dealing with sometimes frightening emotions, and have a wealth of opportunities to grow in their relationships with Christ. 12 sessions for each of three age levels: grades 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12; 36 sessions in all. You may "mix-and-match" activities from the different age-level sessions to best fit your own group. In addition, each session has several "enhancements", or suggestions for ways to continue to explore the session topic in more depth.
