Since we last met in September, I have shared information with association Church and Community Coordinators on the National Ministries Penny Project. This project, if you’re not familiar with it, is an outgrowth of the national Children in Poverty initiative. The Penny Project is an effort to include our church’s youth in raising money to support programs and ministries responding to the needs of children in poverty. Over 2.1 million pennies have been collected as of late March. I’ve encouraged our association Church and Community Ministries coordinators to promote ABW Ministries’ support of, and involvement in, this important project.
I presented a program to my own association, Harrisburg Association, in November on the numerous ways our churches can become involved with other churches through Church Women United, and in the community at large. In particular, I shared an article given to my church’s Advisory Council by my pastor on ways to reach out to the community throughout the year. The article offered some creative examples of way to impact the community in all four seasons. I’m looking forward to attending the National Women’s Conference in Ohio in July. I’m excited about spending time with my ABW Ministries sisters, getting to know one another as we study, praise God and recreate spiritually, physically and emotionally. I’m working with Sue Fitzgerald to plan the Fall Board Meeting, which will emphasize Church and Community Ministries. More information will be coming soon. May God’s grace and peace be with you through the coming spring and summer months. |
