Greetings to my Sisters in Christ! At our Fall board meeting, we discussed Children in Poverty and Women caught in human trafficking. We listed several resources and asked you to raise awareness in your church/community by planning programs to reach out to the families involved. I would like to showcase your programs at conference to share what is going on in our region with others. Please send your information to me by May 15, 2008. |

“Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord” Psalm 127:3. An African
proverb states, “It takes a village to raise a child”. Will you be a member of the
village and get to know and listen to the children in your churches at a deeper level
so you can understand them. Do you really see that child who is abused at home?
That young girl in Thailand tricked into prostitution? That boy who came to Sunday
school/school hungry and angry? National Ministries calls us to really see - really see
the children, to see their plight, their promise and to see them as children created in
the image of God. Our theme, Come to the Edge, is supported in 1 Corinthians 16:13-14; it asks us to be on guard against spiritual dangers, stand firm in our faith, behave courageously, be strong, and do everything with kindness and in love. We are at the edge - we are exploring new territory and need to pray and ask for directions, wisdom and knowledge to continue our advocacy for children. Let’s get busy and plan, with the children's help, celebrations for Children’s Day and Children’s Sabbath to celebrate their presence as part of the body of Christ. (see newsletter).
