B4 Where’s the Power? - Rev. Kathy Eagles In AD 100, historians report that there were 25,000 Christians; by AD 310, there were 20 million! How did such explosive growth happen without buildings, written scripture, or programs the modern church offers? Discovering the answer to that question could radically change your life—but if will equip you to be a part of what God is doing in our time. B5 Enhancing Worship with Music—Babette Perednia A hands-on look at how music ministry can add to the message of God's love in your services. Bring a favorite song and see how it can become a drama, a skit, or part of a medley. We will also look briefly into the history of music in the Bible and go over some worship and music terminology. Are you a Levite? Come join us and find out! B6 Parish Nursing / Health Ministry—Jean Smith Is there a role for a nurse in your congregation? Would your members benefit from a health ministry? Are you interested in the concept of wholistic health? If so, you’ll want to come to this workshop and learn about the potential of a health ministry at your church. If your congregation has an existing health ministry, come and share ideas and resources with others who might consider developing this ministry of showing God’s love and compassion. (You do not have to be a nurse to be part of a health ministry.) B7 Cents and Sensibility—Penni Scott Trusting God to meet all of your needs is easy when they are all being met. But how do you fill in the gap when the ends no longer meet? Come learn about budgeting for God’s blessings through good stewardship in an age of financial instability. B8 Make a Burden Bear—Linda Leonard Make a Burden Bear to take home and share with someone who needs a bit of encouragement. Learn how to crochet or knit the “dress” for the bears and have a project you can use in your local church. Bring a G or H crochet hook or size 10 or 11 knitting needles. You need to know the basic knit stitch or chain and double crochet. Cost is $2.00 B9 Mission to Underserved People—Nursing Home Crafts— Mary Ritter and Linda Smith Learn to prepare activities which will assist recreation staff in nursing homes to engage residents in creative endeavors. This workshop gives you a hands-on opportunity to prepare samples, and includes a packet of instructions to make at least 30 low-cost, yet interesting, activities specially designed for seniors. These ideas can give your AB Girls, VBS or other community groups a concrete way to be of service to overworked nursing home staff and to enrich the lives of nursing home residents. Cost: $2.00 Limit: 20 B10 Fleece Shawl Craft—Jan Jenkins Come learn how to make a NO-SEW fleece shawl. Just cut and tie! Please bring a 2 1/2 yard piece of fleece (available at any craft store that sells fabric by the yard) and a pair of good fabric sheers. Cost is $1.00 for reusable pattern. Limit: 20 B11 Plan of Salvation Bracelet Craft—Beth Arment Explore the world of beading, one of today’s most popular hobbies! Learn the simple craft of stringing beads on stretch cord to make a lovely bracelet that will be a reminder of God’s Love and can also help you share the plan of salvation with others. Each participant will make two identical bracelets—one to keep and one to give away. Cost: $8.00 Limit: 15 B12 “Ear Wrap” Craft—Edie Seigle No holes required, no clips to pinch your lobe! Come and learn to make jewelry for your ear that is no more uncomfortable than wearing sunglasses! Cost: $4.00 Limit: 12 B13 White Cross Bandage Rolling |
