Thinking outside the Box

There has been a lot of talk lately about the need for those in the church to “think outside the box.” So I invite you to think with me a little “outside the box”, the Love Gift Box that is.

The Love Gift box is a three dimensional object. Let’s think of it as a three dimensional street. I know you probably never saw such a thing or even heard of it, but we are “thinking outside the box”.

The first “dimension is God’s love for us. In His love, God meets us no matter where we are on the path, road, or street of life. Let’s add coins to our love box in thanksgiving for God’s love for us.

The second dimension is our love for God. Oh how small that is by comparison to His love! However we do love God and desire to express our love in concrete ways, through praise, worship, prayer and adding a few coins to our Love Gift box as we journey on the road or street of life.

The third dimension is God’s Love for others. Sometimes we have the privilege of being the instrument God chooses to express His love. As we add coins to our Love Gift box, think of God’s love extending down the highways and byways of this world to the roads, streets and paths where people live who need to experience God’s love.

How are the coins from our Love Gift boxes used? They are used to:

help provide camping opportunities,
print Christian education materials,
support missionaries,
promote national workshops and conferences,
to develop curriculum for Youth Leader Core,
to train pastors,
to explore new Xtreme Team destinations,
to publish resources through Judson Press,
to provide new opportunities for mission and service around the world,
to help in many other ways.

And while we are “thinking outside the box” did you know that bills of any denomination $1, $5, $10, $20, $50, $100 etc. can also be folded and placed into the Love Gift box?

And while we are “thinking outside the box,” most of us can not imagine placing coins in the box to = $55,000. Most of us can not imagine placing currency in the box to = $55,000, or even writing a check for that amount. Our new Love Gift goal for this year is $55,000. That’s “outside the box” of our current thinking but very possible. Our theme is “Share Your Blessings” Why should we Share our blessings? Because we serve a wonderful loving Father who has “blessed us with every spiritual blessing” (Ephesians 1:3).

As you add coins to your Love Gift box, think of the three dimensional street that stretches from your box around the world and into eternity. Think not only of the coins going into the box, but of the coins coming out again and going with God’s love and your love to many places that you will probably never be able to go, to do many things that you probably would never be able to do. Think of the many blessings God has given you. Think of your Love Gift box as a way to “Share Your Blessings” with many others in the region, nation and around the world. “Think outside the box.”
